Scott Devon
Paintings into pictures.
Scott founded Beneath Pictures on the idea that a film can begin with an image instead of a screenplay. Some of those images are his own paintings. Others are historical masterpieces that raise a question he keeps returning to: what happened before this moment, who is hidden beneath the surface, what story continues beyond the frame.
He paints in charcoal and pastel on heavily textured paper. Figures, faces, hands, and veiled forms emerge from dark grounds, and the work keeps circling memory, faith, violence, redemption, power, and human vulnerability. He draws, obscures, erases, and excavates until the image surfaces. A single painted figure can turn into a protagonist.
He is also the creator and host of Beneath the Varnish, the series on the hidden histories behind some of the world's most significant works of art, and he has spent decades studying and collecting European painting.

Patrik Andersson
Patrik is a Swedish-born, New York based photographer and director working across fashion, portraiture, and moving image. His practice combines a distinctive photographic archive with ongoing collaborations involving designers, models, artists, and performers, and he keeps looking for new ways of making and circulating visual stories.
At Beneath Pictures he shapes how a story looks before it is filmed: the character renders, the style direction, and the cut of each trailer. He also works as a creative consultant, taking ideas and collaborations from concept through production.
- 03Filmmaker & Composer
Thomas Feiner
Thomas is a Swedish artist and composer, and he is the one who makes the films. He designs the characters and the worlds they move through, builds the footage shot by shot, and writes the music for it.
On Barto he designed the cast and the orphanage. He works from a map of each character, which is what keeps a face the same person from the first shot to the last.

Jake Worsham
Jake founded Sync, the studio's technology partner, and works as the technologist on the team. He brings agentic AI workflows to the studio: systems that carry the repetitive weight of a production so a small group can work at the scale of a much larger one.
He also handles how each film reaches an audience, from the release itself to the advertising behind it.
